Rafal Sokolowski

Rafal SokolowskiI am an actor and film director of Polish origin based in Toronto. I graduated from the National Theatre School of Canada and studied directing as an apprentice at the National Theatre Academy of Krakow.

For the past decade I have been working in Toronto, Montreal and Krakow with Montreal Young Company, Resurgence Theatre, Theatre Francaise, Pleiades Theatre, and Soulpepper. I assisted through acting in both Jonathan Miller’s Master Class and Mike Alfred’s World Stage Festival workshop, as well as in Diego Matamoros’ Shakespearian Master Class.

Last year I made a film: Lightchasers, starring internationally acclaimed Brent Carver. The film received its world premiered at the International Film Festival in Los Angeles. It had its Canadian premiere in Montreal and presently anticipates the European premiere in Vilnius in April.

I have been recently invited to work on a project with Mirek Polatynski. He will direct Theatre of the Film Noir by George F. Walker. I’ve worked with Mr. Polatynski in the past and am very excited to be a part of his team again. His directorial vision is clear and thought provoking. This project is a rear chance to present Canadian dramaturgy to European audience in an exquisite theatrical production.
